War Patrick Henry delivers his
famous speech - "Gives me
Liberty or give me Death",
at St. John's Church in
Richmond Virginia.

- Draper took first successfully
photo of the MOON
(daguerreotype).

- Elisha Otis installed the first
modern passenger elevator in the
5-story Haughwout and Co. building
at 488 Broadway in New York City.

- The Ahmadiya Muslim community is
established by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad
in Qadian India.

March 23, 1880
- John Stevens of Neenah, Wils,
patented the grain crushing mill.
This mill allowed flour production
to increase by 70 percent.

- The Wright brothers obtained an
airplane patent.

- Benito Mussolini founded his
Fascist political movement in

- The Reichstag passes the Enabling
act of 1933, making Adolf Hitler
